I’m Jeroen from Salesflare and this is Founder Coffee.
Every two weeks, I have coffee with a different founder. We discuss our lives, our passions, what we’ve learned, … in an intimate interview, to get to know the person behind the company.
For this forty-second episode, I spoke iceland phone number data with Rand Fishkin, formerly co-founder and CEO of Moz and now co-founder and CEO of Sparktoro, a new solution and data provider for audience intelligence.
Rand started out running an SEO agency and blogging about it, then 13 years ago he founded Moz, one of the first SEO research solutions. A few years ago, he left Moz and started Sparktoro, continuing to pursue his passion for simplifying big data and complex problems.
We talk about SaaS vs. services, the 8 tips for effective brainstorming innovative business model behind Sparktoro, how to stay authentic in marketing, how Rand is organizing marketing at his new company, and why you shouldn’t go MVP, but go slow.
Welcome to Founder Coffee.

Hey guys. Hey SaaS Growth Hacks. We’re sms to data live on Facebook with Rand Fishkin. For those who don’t know, Rand founded Moz back in the day. How long ago was that, Rand?
Rand:
Yes, 2003.
Jeroen:
2003! That’s 17 years. That’s a long time. And recently, about two years ago, you launched Sparktoro after leaving Moz. When exactly did you launch it? Last month?
Rand:
Yes, in April. So it’s not quite two months ago.
Jeroen:
Yes, I’ve been through some of the process, but I haven’t been able to test it myself so far, I have to say. How’s the launch going so far?
