BRAND, MACHINE LEARNING, VIDEO, STORYTELLING, AR/VR, these are the main trends, topics and buzzwords that appeared at this global event and were interwoven with most of the lectures and interviews.
Before we get to the lectures and attractions themselves
It is necessary to mention how WebSummit looks and operates. Paddy Cosgrave, founder and CEO of WebSummit, moved this largest technology event from Ireland to a beautiful, rapidly developing area of Europe – Lisbon, Portugal.
This move was certainly great. The paytm database weekend before the start of the WebSummit itself, you can go surfing in nearby Ericeira or get to know Lisbon from a different perspective than the tourist one.
Among the narrow streets you can find cozy cafes and hipster bistros with a traditional atmosphere, great food and natural wines.
What is not so fun is the massiveness of the whole event – 70 thousand people in four covered pavilions and one hall is really a massacre.
It was impossible to even get
To the relatively interesting lectures, as they were squeezed into the corners of the pavilions on smaller stages. On the contrary, a lot of space was devoted to stands.
Business is the main thing that this event is about.
Despite all of this, there were some bright do you want to be a digital nomad? moments that we ultimately took away from the slightly gloomy Lisbon.
The founder of world-wibe-web Steve Lee took the stage. A personality without whom we would not have our entire digital world.
In his short lecture, he returned to the time when he founded the WWW as a side project on Steve Jobs’ newly created machine, the Next desktop computer.
The next day,
The carousel of lectures and events kicked off in full swing. An interesting interview was with Tripadvisor CEO Stephen Kaufer, who announced the arrival of a new update to the Tripadvisor application in November 2018.
The goal will be to make Tripadvisor a so-called “one-stop-shop.” This update will allow travelers to make all their plans, orders, and travel arrangements in one application.
Tripadvisor now brings together 450 million cyprus business directory users who have already left 600 million reviews. And the ability to follow travelers, create their own itineraries. And copy them will be what will bring a moment of full-fledged planning to the application.
